In the face of the increasing pace of global climate change Cornell has made great strides toward sustainability as part of our ambitious Climate Action Plan. Through administrative efforts and responsible building methods, like combined heat and power, Cornell University seeks to honor our commitment to the environment by emphasizing "initiative, integrity, and excellence, in an environment of collegiality, civility, and responsible stewardship." Yet our endowment remains invested in industries that are exacerbating the problem. As members of the Cornell University community, we want our endowment to be invested responsibly and to reflect our mission which supports a clean energy future for our graduates and the world at large. As such, we ask the University to commit to full divestment from fossil fuels by 2020, to uphold our commitment to creating a more sustainable world while fulfilling our fiduciary duty, and to responsibly direct our University in accordance with our mission and values.
