Logging may be practiced sustainably as it is currently practiced on forest service lands. However, there are no regulations against clear-cutting on private lands. We believe there should be a ban on clear-cutting on all public and private lands.
Why is this important?
Clearcutting devastates the biodiversity of natural ecosystems and is inherently unsustainable. We should be just as considered with clearcutting on private lands as on public lands. CSERC and other environmental groups have voiced protest against this practice.
