Divest Albuquerque Academy from Fossil Fuels

We are asking that the Albuquerque Academy immediately freeze all investment in fossil fuels and to divest from direct ownership and any commingled funds that include fossil fuel public equities and corporate bonds within 3 years.

Why is this important?

As the top college preparatory school in New Mexico, the Albuquerque Academy is educating the leadership of the future, our children. Yet by supporting their educational mission with fossil fuel monies, the school is taking away that future from its students.

Removing fossil fuels in all ways from the Academy's investment portfolio sends a clear message to students and parents that the Academy cares about the world its students face and is willing to take real action to make that world a more hopeful place.

Conversely, failing to take action is equivalent to condemning the school's graduates to a future of misery — subverting the education those graduates have worked for and families have paid for.

We hope that the Academy sees the sense in supporting its role as a world-class educational institution by not contributing to a future in which education will not matter.
