Divest Duluth from Fossil Fuels
We want to urge Duluth to stop receiving any investments in fossil fuels from this point on. Also, Duluth should divest from any fossil fuel stocks, bonds and equities that it currently owns within the next five years.
Why is this important?
We are a group of concerned citizens who are concerned about our climate. The burning of fossil fuels is one of the main contributors to high ozone levels and a catalyst of climate change. This risks the health of current and future generations. We are afraid of losing our beautiful environment including our clean air and Lake Superior. If we do not step up and change how we are living, events like the Great Duluth Flood of 2012 will continue to happen and devastate our community.
We urge Duluth citizens to stand up and be at the forefront of environmental action. By divesting from fossil fuels we would begin to lead the nation in the fight against climate change.
