Divest the City of Grand Junction, CO From Fossil FuelsCarbon loading of our atmosphere is now having a devastating effect on our environment. It is wrong to continue to pour pollution into the atmosphere and it is wrong to profit from it. Financial companies such as HSBC, Citibank and the credit rating agency Standard & Poor's have now raised concerns about the financial stability of fossil fuel companies. Many institutions across the US are now divesting from fossil fuels. At over 200 campuses across the US, there are active campaigns to divest institutional funds from fossil fuel companies.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lou V

Divest the City of Hamilton from Fossil Fuels! The City of Hamilton took leadership on climate change and signed the first community Climate Change Charter in Ontario. The City of Hamilton has a responsibility to protect the lives and livelihoods of its inhabitants from the threat of climate change. To do this they must divest from an industry that’s destroying our future, and reinvest in solutions to climate change. We can not count on the federal government. We have the solutions, but we won’t see any political progress on the issue until we can weaken the power of the fossil fuel industry. The bottom line is this: divestment is the only moral choice for governments that care about their citizens. Solving the climate crisis is the only practical choice for governments that care about their solvency. It's time to divest from fossil fuels now!53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elysia Petrone

For The City of Sydney To Divest From Fossil FuelsAs one of Australia's largest and often self proclaimed 'greenest' cities, the Councilors of Sydney must lead by example and make Sydney the first city in Australia to declare itself Fossil Fuel Free. Profiting from the extraction, manufacturing, and burning of fossil fuels is both economically unviable and morally wrong. By divesting from hydrocarbon businesses, City of Sydney can instead invest in clean energy, contributing to a safer climate and investing in a more sustainable industry. The worlds carbon budget for stopping more then 2 degrees of warming is set at 565 gigatonnes. Meaning 80% of the known fossil fuel reserves MUST stay in the ground. It is unacceptable for the City o Sydney to continue investing in the fossil fuel industry.82 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Will Bennett

Divest Hawaii's Employees’ Retirement System from Fossil FuelsWe want that Hawaii State retirement funds are not invested into fossil fuel industries. On a financial basis, the retirees may lose out if the fossil fuel companies fall in value. On a moral basis, it is wrong to profit from wrecking the climate. On a local basis Hawaii needs to combat climate change for its own survival. Please join our petition.37 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Chris Mentzel

Divest Northampton, MA from Fossil Fuels! Our local government has a responsibility to divest from an industry that’s destroying our future, and reinvest in solutions to climate change. We can not count on the federal government, even as extreme weather events like the record rain fall in the Duluth area last Spring overwhelm local budgets. We have the solutions, but we won’t see any political progress on the issue until we can weaken the power of the fossil fuel industry. The bottom line is this: divestment is the only moral choice for governments that care about their citizens. Fossil Free Richmond BCIt is important for our future in the face of climate change, global warming and ocean acidification. This is especially relevant to Richmond, which being on the mighty Fraser river, is closely associated with fishery & marine activities and is at sea level.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paul Magnus

Divest Sunnyvale From Fossil FuelsWe need to eliminate our support for the use of fossil fuels in order to reduce the coming climate catastrophe due to global warming. For example, NASA's Ames Research Center is close to sea level and a rise in sea levels will lead to massive flooding. We have made a good start by our strict building codes. Let's take the next step by defunding fossil fuels.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Victoria Armigo

Divest Lowell from Fossil FuelsOur local government has a responsibility to divest from an industry that’s destroying our future, and reinvest in solutions to climate change. We can not count on the federal government, even as extreme weather events like severe and costly flooding in New England (2011) worst-ever drought in the Mid West (2012), or super tornados in OK (2013), ruin lives and overwhelm local budgets. We have the solutions, but we won’t see any political progress on the issue until we can weaken the power of the fossil fuel industry. The bottom line is this: divestment is the only moral choice for governments that care about their citizens. Solving the climate crisis is the only practical choice for governments that care about their solvency. It's time to divest from fossil fuels now!19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Peter Lovett
