ST. EDWARD'S, DIVEST FROM FOSSIL FUELS
We ask St. Edward's University to freeze any new investments in the top 200 oil, gas and coal companies, completely divest from direct ownership of any commingled funds that include fossil fuel, public equities, and corporate bonds within 5 years, and direct a portion of reinvestment towards sustainable energy projects.
Why is this important?
As global citizens we question the moral implications of profiting from the fossil fuel industry. The impacts of climate change are disproportionately affecting minority populations of race and class, as well as those who have contributed least to global warming.
