Klimaatverandering vormt een bedreiging voor ons en alle generaties na ons. Hittegolven en epidemieën vormen een toenemende bedreiging voor de volksgezondheid - wereldwijd, en toenemend ook in Nederland. Daarnaast zijn er directe gezondheidsrisico's van fossiele brandstoffen, zoals de uitstoot van fijnstof en andere luchtvervuiling door kolencentrales. Deze fossiele vervuiling heeft wereldwijd vele honderdduizenden vermijdbare doden tot gevolg. Als zorgsector dragen wij zorg voor de gezondheid van onze medemens - ongeacht wie dat is of waar die woont. De zorgsector moet daarom haar eigen verantwoordelijkheid nemen in het afwenden van de mondiale klimaatcrisis en het verbeteren van de luchtkwaliteit. Wij vinden het daarom van groot belang dat ons eigen pensioenfonds, Stichting Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn niet langer investeert in de fossiele brandstoffen die aan de basis liggen van deze problemen. De perrontrappen zijn onderdeel van het oorspronkelijke ontwerp van de Moreelsebrug, die daarmee veel functioneler zou worden. Aanleg van de trappen wordt echter tegengehouden door een agressieve lobby van het Franse bedrijf Klépierre - eigenaar van Hoog Catharijne. Wij vragen onze gemeente om onvoorwaardelijk te investeren in vrije toegang voor schone en duurzame mobiliteit – voetgangers en fietsers vrij toegang te verlenen tot Utrecht CS en nog in 2017 perrontrappen te bouwen aan de Moreelsebrug! Miksi tämä on tärkeää? Yliopistoilla on moraalinen vastuu yhteiskunnan korkeimman tiedon lähteinä hyödyntää omassa toiminnassaan parasta olemassa olevaa tietoa. Tiedeyhteisön yhteisymmärrys on kiistaton. Emme voi polttaa edes puolta maailmanlaajuisista fossiilisten polttoaineiden tunnetuista varannoista aiheuttamatta tuhoisaa ilmaston lämpenemistä. [3][4][5][6] Ilmastotieteilijät ovat yhtä mieltä siitä, että fossiilisten polttoaineiden käyttö on suurin yksittäinen syy antropogeeniseen eli ihmisen toiminnan aiheuttamaan ilmastonmuutokseen, joka aiheuttaa äärimmäisen vakavia ekologisia ja sosiaalisia katastrofeja. [3] Yliopiston tulisi johtaa omalla esimerkillään ilmastonmuutoksen hillitsemistä harjoittamalla entistä kestävämpää sijoitustoimintaa niin ympäristön kuin taloudenkin kannalta. Hiilikuplalla tarkoitetaan fossiilisia polttoaineita tuottaviin yhtiöihin liittyvää taloudellista riskiä, joka johtuu alihintaisten kasvihuonekaasupäästöjen aiheuttamasta markkinahäiriöstä. Hiilikupla on saanut useita sijoittajia vetämään sijoituksensa pois näistä yhtiöistä. [7][8] Yliopiston siirtyminen fossiilisten polttoaineiden tuottajista vapaaseen sijoitusstrategiaan olisi vahva signaali yliopiston henkilökunnalle ja opiskelijoille siitä, että yliopiston johto tunnustaa tieteellisen tutkimustyön tulokset ja pyrkii kehittämään yliopiston toimintaa entistä kestävämmäksi. Divestointi lähettäisi vahvan signaalin niin yliopiston henkilökunnalle kuin nykyisille ja tuleville opiskelijoille, että yliopisto tukee kestävän yhteiskunnan syntymistä. Se olisi tapa olla yksi niistä yliopistoista, jotka ”uskaltavat rohkeasti tutkia ja kokeilla uutta.” Se myös tekisi Aalto-yliopiston investoinnit yliopiston vision mukaiseksi, joka ”sitouttaa meidät rakentamaan kestävälle kehitykselle perustuvaa […] yhteiskuntaa.” Aalto-yliopiston arvoja ovat ”rohkeus vaikuttaa”, ”vapaus olla luova ja kriittinen”, ”vastuu”, ja ”eettisyys”. As this threat rises, the term carbon bubble was created to describe the financial risk related to companies holding fossil fuel reserves as governments move to fix the market failure caused by uncontrolled carbon emissions [6][7][8]. Aalto University should take the lead in confronting climate change by promoting sustainable and financially sound asset management practises. Divestment would send a strong signal to the University's staff as well as current and future students, that the University will take action for a sustainable future. It would be a way for Aalto University to be part of the “Successful universities [...] who dare to explore and experiment in new, creatives ways”. Climate change is accelerating and requires our generation to engineer new ways to combat the time-sensitive issue. As a university, we invest in fossil fuel companies solely for monetary gain. However, we need to move away from this traditional method and start investing in green companies who will provide a similar financial incentive, create more jobs, as well as push for cleaner energies. Having more partnerships with these companies will not only benefit the environment but also provide students more career opportunities to participate in the future of building a more sustainable world. #TechYeah!

The University of Amsterdam wants to be a sustainable University yet they still bank with Deutsche Bank. The University is deciding on their sustainable plans for the upcoming years and ethical banking should be included in this. Deutsche Bank is one of the world’s largest financiers of the coal industry and thus undermining climate finance. Given the commitments made by 195 nations in the Paris agreements to lower greenhouse gas emissions and pursue efforts to limit the global average temperature from rising more than 1.5°C, it is clear that business as usual in financing fossil fuel energy must radically shift. Universities play a significant role in public support for the fossil industry. Given the University of Amsterdam's it is time to clean up their wallet and either urge Deutsche Bank to cut the ties with the fossil industry or move their money away from Deutsche altogether. We invite students, student organizations, employees and teachers to come by and 'cut the ties' between the University of Amsterdam, their bank and the fossil industry on . And sign the petition!

As residents of a waterfront city, we are especially susceptible to the changing climate. With its imminent impact on our society-at-large, it's our responsibility to be an example for other communities and show what must be done to move forward into a fossil-free future.

Vi vet att fossilindustrin är en bidragande orsak till miljöförstöring och klimatförändring. Vi vill därför inte vara delaktiga i dessa negativa projekt som kommer att ha konsekvenser för våra och våra barns och barnbarns liv. Vi vill därför att kommunens förtoendevalda tar uppdraget att se till att inte bidra till fossilindustrins negativa påverkan på största allvar. Vi är övertygande om att ett slut på fossilberoendet kommer att gynna våran kommun i framtiden. Vi vill att kommunfullmäktige berättar årligen för oss hur arbetet med divestering har framskridit så att vi som invånare kan vara stolta över att vi i Surahammar ta vårt ansvar och visa att divestering är en möjlighet.

Fast alle der bislang veranschlagten fossilen Vorkommen müssen in der Erde bleiben, wenn das von allen 195 Staaten in Paris vereinbarte Ziel einer globalen Dekarbonisierung bis Mitte des Jahrhunderts erreicht werden soll. Die Weltgemeinschaft darf also nur einen verschwindend geringe Menge an CO2 ausstoßen, um die globale Erwärmung auf unter 2° C zu begrenzen. Divestment hat deshalb nicht nur der Umwelt wegen, sondern auch aus ökonomischen Gründen eine gesamtgesellschaftliche Legitimation erlangt, da Unternehmen der Öl-, Kohle- und Gasindustrie mehr Rohstoffvorkommen in ihre Bilanzen aufgenommen haben, als sie überhaupt noch fördern und verbrennen dürfen. Es bildet sich eine sogenannte Kohlenstoffblase. Aus diesem Grund gelten die Unternehmenswerte dieser Industrie als überbewertet und stellen für alle Arten von Finanzanlagen ein erhebliches Risiko dar. Seit 2012 haben über 500 Städte, Universitäten, Kirchen, Banken und Stiftungen offiziell ihr Divestment aus Kohle, Öl und Gas erklärt und damit dem fossilen Sektor eine Summe von 3,4 Billionen Dollar entzogen. Dazu gehören u.a. die Städte Berlin, Stuttgart, Münster, Melbourne in Australien, Uppsala in Schweden und Institutionen wie die Kirche von England, der Rockefeller Brothers Fund, die Stanford Universität und die British Medical Association. Gerade als Standort der bekannten Forschungseinrichtungen wie dem Geomar Institut und dem Institut für Weltwirtschaft, die einen großen Beitrag zu einer zukunftsfähigen, nachhaltigeren Wirtschaftsweise leisten, sollte sich Kiel in besonderem Maße dafür einsetzen, die natürliche Lebensgrundlage zu erhalten, die jungen und zukünftigen Generationen zusteht.

U.S. Bank is providing capital for construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Thousands have gathered in North Dakota to support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's efforts to protect their ancestral Tribal lands and to protect the water. Divestment campaigns are underway worldwide because people all over the world understand that the fossil fuel economy and pipelines that transport fossil fuels contribute to global warming, and threaten our clean water supply. Since October, the citizens of Boise have held regular rallies and public forums to discuss the best way we can support the Standing Rock Sioux, and take steps to protect human health. Divesting from institutions that fund DAPL sends a powerful message that we are a community united in the conviction that socially and environmentally responsible decisions are, from here on out, a vital part of the way we conduct our business and our lives.

We want that our university, the most important eningeering university in Italy, to focus (during our education) most on renewable energy, not only on fossil fuels energy. Now the biggest part of the education program is based on "traditional" sources of energy, such as gas and coal. We need to teach to the future of our Country the importance of the renewable energy! As signed in Paris in 2015, we MUST change our vision of energy for the future. We ask to the Politecnico di Milano to increase the time and the quality of the renewabe energy teaching. We are the future, and we demand to teach the future in our university. Climate change is accelerating. We are witnessing the increasing impacts of a warming planet more and more consistently; in this last year alone our country experienced record-breaking heat, droughts, and hurricanes, which impacted hundreds of thousands of people and cost our country hundreds of billions of dollars. Hurricane Sandy alone caused $50 billion in damages. Experts agree that global warming caused by humans burning fossil fuels will continue to accelerate and intensify these tragic climate disasters. The scientific consensus is clear and overwhelming; we cannot safely burn even half of global fossil-fuel reserves without dangerously warming the planet for several thousand years.

If it is wrong to wreck the planet, then it is also wrong to profit from that wreckage. The movement to divest from fossil fuels has always hinged on a fundamentally moral argument: Investment in the fossil fuel industry is wrong. Climate change is unjust. These are precepts that Christians and non-Christians alike can agree on. In the past two years, hundreds of universities, cities, and faith communities have rallied around the idea of fossil fuel divestment, calling on institutions to align their investments with their moral principles and send a clear symbolic message: The actions of this industry are incompatible with a livable planet, and we are taking a stand against it. If the goal of Cardinal Cupich's "Renew My Church" initiative is to make Chicagoland parishes more vital and sustainable, then divestment from fossil fuels must be included in the conversation and action plans.
